So, here it is as promised. :) The second half of the post from the fair.
First of all... We went out there so I could run a shift at the Thirty One booth. :) It was fun BUT, we froze our tails off! I only sold one thing (that I hadn't planned on selling to begin with but oh well) but I got a bunch of people to fill out the information slips I had there so that's exciting. I am going to go through them later today and figure out where to go from there.
Here is a picture of my booth. It was my first one and I am pretty proud of how my set up turned out.
After my shift at the booth it was time for us to find some lunch. So, we went wandering around the fair grounds in search of the perfect fair food. At a festival we went to before I found out that one of the biggest fair staples around here is Fried Bologna Sandwiches. NOW, don't get me wrong... I LOVE fried bologna but I never thought of it as a food I would go out somewhere and pay for... So, I decided that I had to try it at least once. So, I got one for lunch. It was good. It wasn't your normal store bought bologna. It was a THICK chunk of bologna and some cheese on a bun. It was really good though... Here is a picture just to show you what I mean by THICK CHUNK!
I had to share this with you all because my mom and I were talking about it before and she asked me if it was regular bologna or think sliced... So, Here you go mom! :)
Next, we continued to wander around looking at things. We went through some more of the vendor buildings to see what they had. And let me tell you, you can pretty much get anything you might ever want at this fair. It is a great place to go to get your holiday shopping done. They have lots of stuff for everyone! I didn't get pictures of it all because I was carrying my food and the AMAZING lemonade that I couldn't stop drinking! :)
As we walked around and came out of one of the barns we saw this...
These pictures are for my brother. He loves England and all things English and the horses up above here are English. I think the guy said they were called Hackney's.
They had a bunch of these carriages roaming around the fair and we had to get some pictures because they were so fun.
Not only did they have these beautiful carriages around but we also say some amazing and creative costumes... We saw this guy walking around
I didn't realize that it was a whole thing. I thought he just decided to dress up. BUT, before long I realized (with the help of my husband) that this was part of the horse shows they had going on. There were groups all over the place with their horses and families dressed up.
Here, we have the Flintstones complete with Dino and the car!
Here we have the Wizard of Oz, the horse is the lion! How cute!
Then we have the little boy with his poncho and burro!
How about this cheerleader horse next to the fancy horse in his tux and top hat?
Here is the Flintstones again. :) They were possibly my favorite group! :)
Next to the Flintstones was another Wizard of Oz group. :)
There were a few other groups out there but to tell you the truth I am not sure what they were supposed to be! :) I couldn't get close enough to get really good pictures but they were all amazing and very creative! :)
Next came some other horse shows. Not, sure what they were all for but here are some pictures anyway :)
The horses were all very pretty and I love watching them! It was cool to see these different kinds of shows because where I am from we just have the rodeo and while I love watching the rodeo this was a lot of fun!
So, now we had been in one place long enough we were starting to freeze again :) It was time to start walking again.
We wanted to go look at some more of the animals but we learned that Saturday is not the day to do that... Most of them were already picked up and heading home. We thought that was interesting since the fair wasn't over but next year we know not to wait.
Here is what we did get to look at.
This guy was VERY unhappy. There were some kids over there pestering him and it made me really mad to see, and of course their parents were nowhere around to make sure they were treating the animals with respect.
My wonderful husband wants to invest in one of these now that he saw them all over the fair...
And for my brother again another picture of the hackney's and me all bundled up with my sweater, coat, fingerless gloves, ear warmer. AND don't miss the lemonade in my hand! It was really cold out BUT, I couldn't pass on the lemonade! :)
Last picture for this post... This is where they had the guinea pigs and rabbits. It is the Pocket Pets barn. :) We thought this was hilarious so of course we had to get a picture of it! :)
It just ended but I already am so excited for next year so we can experience more of this fair! We didn't get out their enough and at the right times to see everything but now we know for next year!
What are your favorite fair events and activities???
